Two RCMP officers arrested for impaired driving 

Two Manitoba RCMP officers are facing impaired driving charges after they were arrested in separate incidents last week. Both were off duty. One of the officers allegedly refused to provide a breath sample. The most recent arrest happened in Thompson, where a pickup truck driven by the officer collided with a taxicab. Dana Randall, a constable stationed in Thompson, was released on a promise to appear in court Oct. 23. The second occurred in Nisichawayasihk on Sept. 29 at 3:30 a.m. Officers were on their way to a disturbance call vehicle coming off a dirt trail nearly collided with an RCMP pickup truck, police said. The vehicle was stopped and officers arrested the driver. RCMP charged Darcy Stevenson, a constable stationed at the Nelson House detachment, with impaired driving and driving with a blood-alcohol over .08. He is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 27.

Vancouver-based RCMP charged following a crash on Highway 1 

Yet another B.C. Mountie is facing impaired driving charges. The off-duty officer was driving his own vehicle when it collided with a barrier, heavily damaging the vehicle. The crash occurred on the south end of the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge at 4:22 a.m. Saturday, October 3. Two civilian passengers sustained minor injuries. Vancouver police obtained breath samples from the driver, which were determined to be over the legal limit of 0.08. The officer is to appear in court on November 20 to face charges of impaired driving, and driving with a blood alcohol exceeding 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 milliliters of blood.

Coquitlam RCMP officer charged for drunk driving 

Another B.C. RCMP officer has been charged with impaired driving, this time by members of his own detachment after being stopped driving home from the casino. The Coquitlam RCMP detachment received a call shortly before 3 a.m. Friday about an impaired driver who had just left the casino. They stopped the vehicle and discovered the driver was a fellow officer. He was taken to the Coquitlam detachment, where he blew over .08. The name of the officer has not been released.

Former Conservative MP faces impaired driving, drug charges 

Former Conservative MP Rahim Jaffer has been charged with impaired driving and possession of cocaine. Ontario Provincial Police said they stopped a Ford Escape that had been traveling at high speed through the village of Palgrave, northwest of Toronto.
The OPP and the Conservative party declined to comment on the charges against Jaffer.

Vancouver police officer charged with impaired driving 

A veteran Vancouver police officer has been arrested for impaired driving the Vancouver Police Department revealed Monday morning. The off-duty officer was stopped by the Port Mann RCMP in Burnaby early Sunday morning. He was released on a Promise to Appear.

Police officer hit with stunt-driving charge 

Provincial police in Peterborogh county have charged a police officer under the province's stunt driving law and impounded an unmarked Durham Regional Police vehicle.
It happened Thursday on Highway 115 when a police traffic aircraft spotted a vehicle speeding and the car was pulled over by a provincial police officer. Provincial police impounded the vehicle for seven days and a 34-year-old, 10-year member of the Durham Regional Police has had his driver's licence suspended for the same period.
The officer has been charged with racing a motor vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in court in Peterborough on Sept. 14.

Officer charged after Danforth police chase

A Toronto police officer has been charged with assault and dangerous driving after a police chase ended with several people being injured in a collision, the province's Special Investigations Unit said.
Investigators with the SIU say that Constable Ricardo Gomez was pursuing a vehicle on March 4 when the vehicle crashed on Main Street, north of Danforth Avenue. Three of the four occupants were treated at St. Michael's Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
After a five-month probe involving five investigators, three forensic investigators and a collision reconstructionist, Const. Gomez was charged Friday with assault causing bodily harm and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Officer charged with stunt driving; police vehicle impounded

An Ontario Provincial Police officer, Const. Jeff McNorgan, who crashed into a hydro pole, has been charged under the province's stunt driving legislation - resulting in his police vehicle being impounded.
McNorgan has been charged with stunt driving for excessive speed, his licence has been suspended for seven days and the police vehicle in question impounded as required under the legislation.
He is scheduled to appear in court August 28.

Off-duty Red Deer Mountie charged with assault

An RCMP officer in Red Deer, Alta., has been charged with assaulting a woman outside of a bar while he was off duty. Mounties say police responded to a complaint on March 26 about a fight outside of a nightclub.
Police say two men were standing outside of the bar involved in a heated discussion when a woman got in between them. One of the men is alleged to have thrown the woman to the ground and later left the area.
Police have charged Darren Ryan, 28, with assault.

Another police officer charged with drunk driving

A 13-year Saskatoon police officer has been charged with drunk driving.
Const. Roy Rodgers was arrested while off duty by patrol members at approximately 3 a.m. Sunday, after someone lodged a complaint about a man and a woman arguing in a vehicle at 22nd Street and Idylwyld Drive.
He is scheduled to appear in provincial court on June 11.

Police officer charged with drunk-driving

A Toronto police officer with 21 years of service has been charged after she crashed her vehicle on the Don Valley Parkway.
The officer, Constable Tamara Rodin, who was off duty at the time, collided with another vehicle at about 5 p.m. on May 5.
She has been charged with impaired driving, operating a vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in her blood and failing to comply with bail conditions.
She was previously charged with robbery and disguise with intent after a Markham pharmacy was reportedly robbed of prescription drugs.

Off-duty RCMP officer who crashed cruiser had been drinking

RCMP reported that an off-duty officer who drove a marked car into a highway ditch had been drinking - in violation of a probation order.
Cst. Brent Jolson, 40, was given a 24-hour driver's licence suspension, charged with breach of probation and placed on what the RCMP called administrative duty while his status with the Mounties is reviewed.
Jolson crashed a marked RCMP vehicle while driving along Highway 11, near Lumsden, a community about 30 kilometres west of Regina, a news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP headquarters said.
Police said Jolson entered the centre median of the four-lane highway and crashed into a culvert. Police said the car was so damaged it could not be driven and that Jolson was not seriously injured.

B.C. RCMP officer charged with impaired driving causing death

DELTA, B.C. - An off-duty RCMP officer was charged Tuesday with impaired driving causing death. A 21-year-old B.C. man suffered fatal injuries during a car crash on Saturday evening in the Vancouver suburb of Delta.
Orion Hutchinson of Tsawwassen, B.C., was on his motorcycle when he was hit by a Jeep. Hutchinson was thrown from his bike and suffered traumatic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Jeep was taken to the Delta Police Headquarters where he took a breathalyzer test. He has been charged with impaired driving causing death and exceeding .08.

Officer faces additional charges

A police officer accused of drinking and driving has also been charged with unsafe storage of his service firearm.
Douglas Kurtis Brown, who has been suspended without pay as he waits for his upcoming trial, is facing the new charge for allegedly storing his service firearm at his home.
Police allege Brown, 29, was impaired by alcohol when he drove his BMW through a red light at the Whitemud overpass and T-boned a pickup truck.

RCMP officer charged in fatal high-speed crash

An RCMP officer in Burnaby, B.C., has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving causing death in connection with a crash at Kingsway and Royal Oak Avenue last October. Const.
Petina Kostiuk has been charged in connection with the deaths of Albert Haczewski, 27, and Koyo Walter Hara, 26. Both men died of their injuries after a police cruiser slammed into the car they were in during the morning hours on Oct. 31.
